Bruckner (1824-1896)
Description:
This is the first re-release in many years of the only complete Bruckner cycle that Vant recorded with the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Cologne. 1974's broadcast recording of the Fifth Symphony was so good that a hastily decided upon recording was made, and its release established Vant's reputation as a highly regarded Bruckner conductor. The release of the recording established Vant's reputation as a highly acclaimed Bruckner conductor. The recording shows Vant in his prime, not neglecting a single note, paying attention to every detail with clarity, and giving tremendous brass accents in various places. The nine symphonies are of a standard that can be called the eternal standard for Bruckner symphonies, and the two symphonies No. 1 and No. 2 have never been performed by Vand, nor have they been performed with the North German Radio Symphony Orchestra or the Berlin Philharmonic, which are the Vienna and Haas editions, respectively. This is a valuable recording in terms of the choice of manuscripts. Sony Music
