Last run of JR Hokkaido's first pendulum-type train, Kiha 281 Series The Kiha 281 Series, which debuted in 1994 as the "Super Hokuto" limited express train, was JR Hokkaido's first pendulum train, boasting a top speed of 130 km/h. It connected Hakodate and Sapporo in as little as 2 hours 59 minutes, shortening the conventional travel time by 30 minutes. In 2020, the train will be renamed "Hokuto," ending 28 years of service. This film includes scenes of the train running between Hakodate and Sapporo, the last day of regular operation on September 30, 2022, and the last run on October 22 and 23, 2010, so you can see the last glimpse of the Kiha 281 Series that changed the history of JR Hokkaido's limited express diesel trains.
