Following "La bohème," "Tosca," and "Madame Butterfly," the opera "Daughter of the West," which premiered with great success at the Metropolitan Opera in New York on December 10, 1910, brought Puccini worldwide fame. In recent years, this work has gained increasing recognition as a work in which Puccini broke with the traditional framework of opera and used modern musical language to create a work of art. This video is a recording of the critically acclaimed performance at the Opera di San Carlo in Naples as the opening performance of the 2018 season, staged with a realistic direction reminiscent of a western by acclaimed Argentinean stage director Ugo de Ana and expressive conducting by Yulai Valčuha.
