Description:
Los Angeles label White Whale Records presents a 2LP set of 26 hits and rarities from the 1960s on 180g vinyl 2LP. Founded in 1965 by Ted Feigin and Lee Rasseff, White Whale Records quickly rose to fame when the Turtles' debut single "It Ain't Me Babe" reached the Billboard Top 10. Over the next five short years, the label released more than 150 singles and 24 albums. Although not all of their releases were as successful as the Turtles', Fagin and Riseff are popular with music fans as a quaint label that signed artists ranging from singer-songwriters to psychedelic pop. Compilation producer Andrew Sandoval has written detailed liner notes. The album includes the jazzy, Latin-tinged Triste Janero, Laughing Gravy (solo project of Dean Torrence of Jan & Dean fame), Sunset Strip regulars Smokejack Lightnin' and Professor Morrison's Lollipop's hit garage rock single "You Got the Love".
