2019 marks the 70th anniversary of Miles Davis' first Capitol recording, the "Birth of Cool" sessions! This complete release includes the original album plus 13 additional tracks recorded live at The Royal Roost in NY on September 4, 1948. This work was created through interactions with various musicians in the Manhattan apartment of Gil Evans, who had a close relationship with Miles, who was only 22 years old at the time, across racial barriers. The only live recordings left by the gorgeous nonet are a must-hear!
