6.5 x 8.5 inches on 10 x 12 board. Very Good+ to Near Fine, corners gently bumped and faint residue marks. William Waltke & Co. was a successful manufacturer of soaps in St. Louis. Their most famous product was Lava Soap--a display board shows dirty hands making a hallelujah gesture evoking a volcanic explosion above the display cases. The product is also perched atop the rolltop desk behind which John A. Schake and his secretary are positioned. Another woman worker is slightly blurred, pulling from a card file behind a messy desk. Two handsome display counters neatly showcase products with nearly legible labels. The photo retains a terrific amount of detail and tonal depth. The photograph of a banquet against the far wall is an evocative touch.
