Kvindelige Studenters Sangforening
Description:
A Christmas album sung by the choir of the Women's Choral Society of the University of Oslo in the wake of the Corona disaster. Founded in 1895, the Kvindelige Studenters Sangforening (KSS) (Academy Female Chorus, University of Oslo Female Chorus Society) is the oldest student female choral group in the world. After releasing "Like a Golden Sun Revealing Itself" (LWC1144), in which they sang contemporary Norwegian works, they recorded their second Christmas album in 2020, after "The Poor Land is Silent at Christmas" (2009) (LWC1009), when "normal life" was no longer possible due to COVID-19. Christmas album was recorded. The album features carols traditionally sung in Norway, hymns sung in the valley. The program was designed to evoke "the purity and serenity of 'snow' that silences loud words and noise. The program includes "Christmas Song" (arranged in 1942), which Sibelius himself arranged for women's four-part chorus, and other songs arranged by the members and by friends of the club for them.
