Kazuhito Yamashita, one of Japan's leading classical guitarists, has yet to break the record he set at the age of 16 as the youngest ever winner of the world's three major guitar competitions: Ramirez (Spain), Alessandria (Italy), and Paris (France). Yamashita released his first album with RCA in 1978 at the age of 17, and has released nearly 90 albums to date. Works by Spanish composers are indispensable for guitar music. Yamashita has also made an important part of his own performance repertoire, including his debut recording of Sol. This CD includes two of Rodrigo's masterpiece concertos recorded in Paris and selections from "Fandanguilho" released in 1997, as well as other representative guitar works produced in Spain in the modern and contemporary era.
