Key Collagen FAQs

Key Collagen is hydrolyzed, which means the collagen is broken down into specific protein fragments called peptides. Collagen peptides are short chains of amino acids that are more readily broken down into a form that can enter the bloodstream upon digestion. Read below for more information on peptides.

Key Collagen contains collagen types 1, 2, 3, 5, and 10. Then we also add in high concentrations of the specific collagen peptides Fortigel, Fortibone, Tendoforte, and Verisol for very specialized additional benefits for cartilage, connective tissue, bone, and skin.

We test for heavy metals in every batch. We use only free range cattle from Germany, which doesn’t have the same heavy metal concerns that we have in the United States. 

Our collagen is processed at body temperature to assure no denaturing takes place of the protein/amino acids. We boil the collagen under a vacuum at body temperature to remove the fat that contains the stored toxins while not damaging the specific protein peptides.

The Key Collagen Difference: Peptides vs Amino Acid Profile

The bottom line is that the amino acid profile is not the best indicator of a good collagen. You need amino acids in a specific sequence to get the benefits you are looking for. Amino acids on their own do not make up tissue. Amino acids in a specific sequence make up specific types of tissue. The sequences are more important than the quantity of each individual amino acid.
