Vangelis made his worldwide debut as a keyboard player in Aphrodites Child, a progressive rock band consisting of members from Greece, and started his career as a solo artist after the band broke up. He was invited to join Yes after Rick Wakeman left the band, but turned it down. He continued to develop his career as a solo artist and established himself as a creative sound creator, working on the soundtracks for the films "Chariots Of Fire," "Blade Runner," and "Antarctica," among others.Although he has rarely performed live and has only given about 30 concerts in his 50-odd years as a solo artist, the rare live archive of Vangelis' performances in the 1990s is finally being released as an album! Disc 1 is a complete recording of the concert Vangelis gave in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on June 18, 1991, as part of an event celebrating the Netherlands' 1990-91 presidency of EUREKA, a research organization centered on the European Union. The concert consists of Vangelis' best-known songs up to that time, and features a guest appearance by John Anderson of Yes. Disc 2 is a complete recording of the concert held as the opening ceremony for the 1997 World Championships in Athletics in Athens, Greece. The main theme of "Chariots Of Fire" is featured in the middle part of the new piece written for this concert.This archive has never been released before and has been long awaited by fans!
