The EDI-USA MICH (ACH) Ballistic Helmet delivers Level IIIA and HG2 ballistic protection tested at ambient conditions, resisting threats up to .44 Magnum and including 9mm and .357 SIG. Built in the MICH/ACH cut that extends coverage from the forehead to the back of the head with ear protection included, it ships standard with a pair of Picatinny side rails, a front NVG mount, two bungees, and external velcro for accessory mounting. Available in black, green, or tan (custom order), and in sizes S, M, L, and XL.
This helmet is tested to NIJ Level IIIA (ambient) and NIJ 0123.00 HG2 (ambient), stopping handgun threats up to and including .44 Magnum as well as lower-velocity handgun threats such as 9mm and .357 SIG. In addition to ballistic resistance, it is tested to STANAG 2920 (V50) fragmentation standards, providing resistance against shrapnel and fragmentation threats during operations.
HG2 is the current NIJ 0123.00 designation for helmets tested against the same threat set historically associated with Level IIIA. This helmet does not provide protection against rifle-caliber threats — no wearable ballistic helmet currently achieves rifle-level (RF3) protection. For operations involving rifle-caliber exposure, additional ballistic cover for the torso is required.
The MICH (ACH) cut provides full-circumference coverage from the forehead through the rear of the skull, with ear cut-outs shaped to allow communication headsets and ear protection. External velcro panels accept hook-and-loop patches and accessories. An optional ballistic neck protector rated at Level II or Level IIIA is available for orders requiring extended coverage.
Interior padding uses a removable and adjustable pad system secured with velcro, allowing the user to configure fit, clean individual pads, or swap pad thicknesses. The nylon suspension system adjusts to hold the helmet snugly during active use. Two chin-strap configurations are available: a rubber chin cup or a double chin strap without rubber chin cup — specify the preferred configuration at time of order.
Upgraded interior suspension systems are also available, including a ratchet-dial adjustment knob or a BOA inner suspension knob system. Contact us to configure the suspension system that fits your operational requirements.
Standard configuration ships with a pair of Picatinny side rails and a front NVG mount. The side rails accept flashlights, cameras, and other rail-mounted tactical accessories. The front mount is compatible with standard NVG mounting systems. Two bungees are included for securing accessories or cover. Customized accessory configurations are available for agency or bulk orders — contact us for a quote.
Available in S, M, L, and XL. Custom interior suspension systems, including ratchet-dial and BOA knob configurations, are available for a precise fit. Custom colors beyond the standard black and green are available as special orders. Contact us to discuss custom-color or custom-suspension requirements for your order.
It depends on your location. Body armor, including ballistic helmets, cannot be shipped to New York or Connecticut due to state restrictions on civilian body armor purchases. This product is also subject to U.S. export regulations for international orders. Under 18 U.S.C. § 931, any person with a federal felony conviction for a crime of violence is prohibited from purchasing or possessing body armor.
Level IIIA and HG2 both refer to the same threat tier — handgun rounds up to .44 Magnum — tested under NIJ ballistic standards. HG2 is the current NIJ 0123.00 designation; IIIA is the legacy terminology from earlier NIJ standards. This helmet is tested to both designations at ambient conditions, meaning neither extreme heat nor cold test conditions apply.
No. This helmet is rated for handgun threats up to .44 Magnum and fragmentation threats under STANAG 2920. It does not provide protection against rifle-caliber projectiles. No currently available wearable ballistic helmet achieves rifle-round (RF3 / Level IV equivalent) protection.
The helmet ships with a front NVG mount compatible with standard night-vision mounting systems. Specific compatibility with third-party NVG arms (Wilcox, Norotos, or others) is not detailed in the standard configuration — contact us before ordering if you need to confirm compatibility with a specific NVG arm or bracket.
Two chin-retention configurations are available: a rubber chin cup or a double chin strap without a rubber chin cup. Upgraded interior suspension systems — including a ratchet-dial knob or a BOA knob system — are available on request. Specify your preferred chin-strap configuration and suspension upgrade when placing your order or when requesting a quote.
Yes. Law enforcement agencies can request a free T&E sample to evaluate before committing to a purchase.
