Description:
A Fairy Tale Told on a Summer Night by Sohiev & the Berliner Philharmoniker - Valtbühne 2019 guest Marianne Crevasser, the famous French flower, will conduct the 2019 Valtbühne concert with conductor Tugan Sohiev from North Ossetia, Russia. Sohiyev has enjoyed a remarkable career in recent years, serving as Music Director and Chief Conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre, Artistic Director of the Orchestre National de la Capitole de Toulouse, and a frequent guest with the NHK Symphony Orchestra. The Waldbühne Concerts are the Berliner Philharmoniker's annual outdoor picnic concerts held at the end of each season. Held on the last Sunday of June each year, the concert offers a unique opportunity to enjoy blissful music in the relaxed atmosphere of an open-air concert venue. The Waldbühne is one of the buildings modeled after an ancient Greek amphitheater and built for the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Originally named Dietrich Eckartbühne, the Waldbühne was the venue where gymnastics and other competitions were held during the Olympics. The concert titled "A Fairytale Night" was held in an open-air concert hall in a forest in the suburbs of Berlin, attracting audiences from all over the world. The first piece performed was the humorous "Lieutenant Kyger" written by Prokofiev for a satirical film. Next, Ravel's "Scheherazade" with French mezzo-soprano Marianne Crevassa, who captivated the audience with her dainty stand, transported the audience to the Orient. The main program features Prokofiev's ballet music "Romeo and Juliet" in suite form arranged by Sohiev, performing the world's most famous love story with overflowing songfulness. King International
