Public Image Limited, formed around John Lydon, who left the Sex Pistols, is the first post-punk band to release a shocking debut album. The band's innovative sound, which deliberately strayed away from rock and boldly incorporated reggae/dub, presented its innovations as if to mock the audience that had been chasing after the vision of the Pistols. Released in 1978.
