With super rock guitarist Eddie Van Halen, Van Halen made a sensational debut in 1978 and quickly became one of the top American hard rock bands. The band overcame various problems, including a change of vocalists and the departure of original member Michael Anthony, but stopped their activities in 2006. However, they resumed their activities in 2011, releasing a new album and touring extensively. The band's future is still in question after the sudden death of Eddie Van Halen on October 6, 2020. The band's rare live archive from before their debut and before they were signed to a record label has finally been released on CD! Even before the band was signed to a record deal, their outstanding performances were talked about in California. In 1976, the band toured clubs throughout California, and their May 9, 1976 concert in Norwalk was recorded for a local FM station. Since the set list consisted mostly of cover numbers, the program was broadcast mainly of original songs. This album was released using the sound recordings from that broadcast.The band's sound was already complete at this point, even before their debut, and you can experience the band's sound on the eve of their major label debut, with a spirited stage performance that shows 150% of the band's potential!
