With an inverted cap there is no need for costly peristaltic pumps or vacuums, simply flip the flask over and let gravity do the work. Using gravity in addition to being cost effective also is gentler on cells than mechanical pumps. They are are ideal for applications where cell viability is a must e.g. stem cell therapies.
