Beautiful 1901 Victorian lace dress with jet beading. This is such a beautiful piece of fashion history. The lace is so intricate with embroidery and jet beading sewn into the lace and on the buttons.

Dress is typically handmade of this period and made with nimble hands, craft expertise and lots of love and care, taking many hours to create this one of a kind piece.

Has some nice design details:

• Rounded collar with scalloped edge and midnight blue velvet ribbon trim to front neck.
• Centre front half press stud concealed fastening with fabric and jet bead trim buttons (buttons are decoration/design element)
• There is also a large hook and eye fastening at the waist.
• The waist also has a small thin cotton band sewn onto the outer lace to give it a little reinforcement not seen when on the body
• Midnight blue coloured velvet ribbon trim that sits dropped waist on the body and on the front neck.

I have shown the dress without any under slip or under layer on the stand so you can see the beauty and intricate design of the lace and how this sits when worn but ideally it would look great with a silk slip or underlayer to add a touch of period elegance and complete your outfit. She is a work of art!

There are no signs of wear or distress/damage to the lace. It has clearly been cared for and stored well. The dress is in excellent condition and beautiful quality.

The overall colour is deep black with no fading or areas of discloration. The velvet trim is midnight blue. A truly fabulous handmade victorian dress from the start of the century.
