From his strict father, a respected notary, little Salvador repeatedly fled to the attic. There he began painting, on the lids of hat boxes. At twelve, he began drawing lessons, and later, his father, who could not ignore his talent, sent him to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid. The young painter soon found his own direction. He was interested in the world of the unconscious, the depiction of dreams. He painted, designed furniture and hats, theater sets, wrote, and staged himself. Today, his paintings can be seen all over the world.
