‘Rewriting Women’s Place in Fashion and Art’

Hailing from Paris with roots in New York, Domina— meaning ‘she who rules’—is a new fashion and arts title aiming to spotlight and build a community of female-identifying creatives. Envisioned as a ‘feminist manifesto’, the journal is compiled of art, essays, poems, fashion photography and interviews.

Encased in a transparent blue plastic sleeve, this open-bound sophomore edition is themed ‘re forms’—an examination of re-formation, rebellion and the reshaping of bodily ideals against a backdrop of increasing threats to female autonomy, rights and representation. The issue brings together creatives united in their commitment to dismantling outdated norms alongside highlighting new identities in the making, leading with model and activist Cora Corré on the cover. 

Elsewhere, Cassi Namoda’s cinematic pastel paintings tell a story of a nomadic, multi-heritage existence within a colonial and post-colonial world; Apolonia Sokol’s ‘deeply feminist’ figurative paintings challenge political structures; and, Céline Bodin presents ‘The Hunt’—a striking photographic series, portraying western hairstyles as a shifting representation of bodily autonomy across the centuries. Plus, five bold photo editorials by Dalila Slimani, Erika Long, Mélanie Doh, Jingyu Lin and Martina Keenan.
