A German-American analog art publication (and feast for the eyes) describing itself as a love letter to ‘forgotten media, low-grade textures, and the art of making something out of nothing.’ It’s also a paeon to nineties graphics—think people like David Carson, Vaughan Oliver and Chris Biggs, and Chris Ashworth among others.
As such, Plastikcomb exists to experiment with the typographic make-up of the magazine page, challenging the grids and formats most designers rely on, turning instead to collage and layering as an organising (is that the correct word?) technique. That ideal is further advanced by the fact the two principles work seperately in different countries.
This ninth issue features interviews Nicola Kloosterman, Adam Brierley, Merritt Spangler and Agata Rek among others.

In the States, when it was picture day, you were handed a plastic comb, in which your current hairdo was styled to make you look “presentable,” and more than often you ended up looking like a completely different person.
