The Hindu figure of music, knowledge and wisdom, Saraswati has remained a significant character from Vedic period through modern culture. Finding her earliest mention in Rigveda, Hindu festivals like Vasant Panchami and Saraswati Puja are still carried out to date in her honour. Saraswati’s name originates from the Sanskrit words Saras, meaning knowledge of speech, and vati meaning one who possesses. Some other names of her are Brahmi and Vani.
