This canteen has a mahogany coloured leather case.

The case has straps for attachment to the D rings of the saddle, and a strap for attachment to the girth.

All the straps and stitching are in good order.

The front of the lid is stamped "N.J.M.H"

The case is lined in cream doeskin or chamois and has an internal partition.

Inside there is a rectangular flask, with a silver plated captured or hinged cap.
The cap is engraved "N.J.M.H.".
There is also a double hinged silver plated sandwich tin, which is engraved "N.J.M.H.". The plating is a little discoloured under the engraving.

The plating is worn around the lower corners of the sandwich tin.
