Each e+m pen holder is a bit different, because it's made of solid wood and hand-finished in Germany. This model, made from aged oak, has a range of dark tones and a complex grain, varnished smooth and fitted with a nib mount.

The "bullet" shape is quite interesting for writing and drawing. It's very short and wide, with no defined grip area. We've found that this shape forces you to loosen your grip and apply gentler pressure to the nib—a very useful tool for beginning calligraphers who haven't developed the feather touch.

This pen holder also comes very close to being a universal fit for modern and vintage nibs, because the unique ball-shaped nib mount flexes to hold nibs of many sizes and shapes. You can see how it works in our product photos—the nib is held tightly between the rubber mount and the wooden edge of the pen.

Included with each Bullet Pen Holder is a classic English writing nib: the Leonardt #30 in a bright gold finish. Fairly stiff and subtly stub-shaped at the tip, the Leonardt #30 is intended for general writing and drawing, although it can also be used for some kinds of calligraphic scripts.
