This whip has a wooden shaft which is octagonal in cross section.

There is a hole in the top for a wrist strap.

The shaft has dark brown varnish, this is chipped in places and there is a paler rectangle near the top of the whip.

There is a silver coloured collar which is engraved with an eagle and banners with the words "Eagle Troop" and "Royal Horse Artillery"

There is an open leather keeper or loop at the end of the shaft and a braided leather thong which ends in a leather loop. Some strands of the leather braiding are damaged towards the end of the thong
