The spurs are made of silver plated brass with steel inserts which would fit into "boxes" in the heel of the boot.
The arms and straight necks of the spurs are embossed with roses, thistles and shamrocks.
The rose shaped rowels are similarly decorated.
Each neck is stamped "Maxwell" (a famous London boot & spurmaker).
The steel parts of the spurs are also stamped with Maxwell's late nineteenth century address , 185, Piccadilly, London.
The casting is crisp and both spurs are in very good condition.
Very similar spurs can be seen in Charles de Lacy Lacy's 1902 book "The History of the Spur"
