Type: During the Vietnam War era, the Women's Army Corps (WAC) played a significant role, with women serving in various capacities to support the war effort. While not directly involved in combat, WAC members served in hospitals, administrative roles, communications, intelligence, and logistics, primarily in the Pacific theater supporting operations in Vietnam. The first WAC officer assigned to Vietnam arrived in 1962, and a WAC detachment was stationed in Long Binh from 1967 to 1972.
