Sourced from the Nepalese Himalayas, this box of artisanal paper is made from the bark of the Lokta shrub, a plant with a remarkable, self-regenerating root system that allows it to be harvested without harming the forest ecosystem.
The bark is transformed using an ancient process of soaking, boiling, and beating, resulting in a paper of unparalleled resilience. It is naturally insect-proof, anti-corrosive, and water-resistant. If it gets wet, simply let it air dry. It is an archival-quality material, trusted to last over 100 years without fading or degrading.
Each sheet has two distinct faces. The fibrous bark is spread on a frame and dried in the sun; the side facing the sun develops a beautiful, rough texture, while the other side remains smooth. This set includes 95 sheets within a matching handmade Lokta paper box.
Due to manual formation, sheet thickness is not uniform. The surface retains traces of the natural fiber and irregular perimeters, documenting the handcrafted process and distinguishing the material from industrial standardization.
