This is a preserved horse (or more likely pony) hoof. It probably dates from the late 19th or early 20th century
It is in good condition and has a fullered nickel horseshoe with a toe clip on its base.
Such hooves were used as bases for candlesticks, inkwells, penstands, pincushions and trays. This example is empty, one copper tack remains from a previous use.
