Sigmund Freud in a letter to his wife, Martha Bernays (1907)
He was referring to a Roman bas-relief in the Vatican Museum which was an inspiration for Wilhelm Jensen's novel, Gradiva. In the same year, Freud published a famous study of the book entitled Delusions and Dreams in Jensen's Gradiva and he later acquired a copy of the bas-relief, now known as Gradiva, which hangs in his study.
This plaster-cast relief is made exclusively for the Freud Museum and cannot be found anywhere else. Each relief comes in two finishes:

About the Artist
Martha Todd RCA MA is an artist working from her studio in North London. Her work is often conceptual and normally involves sculpting figurative forms, both human and animal. She makes work for exhibitions and on commission.
