PRACTICAL OPULENCE – The Regency period in England was a time of grand opulence, and in décor that meant making things larger and more imposing than they needed to be. Hence, the bulbous shape, heavily lobed body, and pronounced lip of the Regent Urn. All are a tad overdone so as to impress. However, in the usual spirit of English good taste, the rest of this urn remains unadorned. For all its bravura, it stands on a simple ringed socle and a firm, square foot.
