Mozes met de Tien Geboden, 1585
Adriaen Collaert
In the center of the artwork, Moses is depicted holding two stone tablets inscribed with the Latin version of the Ten Commandments. Surrounding him are four scenes from biblical narratives. On the top left, King Solomon's prayer during the dedication of the temple (1 Kings 8) is shown. Below this, Jesus is seen expelling money changers from the temple (Luke 19:45). On the top right, God's appearance to Moses on Mount Sinai (Exodus 19) is illustrated. The bottom right presents a scene from the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). Each scene is accompanied by a Latin caption, and the print also features Latin inscriptions at the top and bottom. This print serves as the title page for a series depicting scenes from the Old Testament to illustrate the Ten Commandments.
