SMG-2: Sound Masking Generator

The SMG-2 sound masking generator produces an analog pink noise signal that is fed to sound masking amplifiers (ordered separately) in order to produce random low-level background noise to mask ambient noise and aid conversational privacy.

The PRE-EQ OUTPUT has a flat spectrum that can be used as an input to equalizers that feed power amplifiers for masking systems that require precise equalization.

The POST-EQ OUTPUT is adjusted by bass, mid and treble controls, and can be used for less demanding applications that utilize basic spectrum shaping.

• The sound masking generator shall be Lowell model SMG-2, which shall produce an analog pink noise signal and have pre-EQ and post-EQ hi-Z line level outputs. Controls shall include level, bass, mid, and treble. The steel chassis (12.2" x 1.5" x 6") shall have a black powder epoxy finish and include universal mounting brackets for wall, shelf, rack or under counter use, which will slightly increase dimensions. It shall also include a power supply with universal input (100–240VAC) and 12VDC @ 1A output.
