Color/Appearance: The heartwood is initially yellowish brown but turns yellow to golden brown upon exposure, often with a gray or olive cast.The sapwood is light yellow brown in color.

Grain/Texture: The grain is somewhat interlocked. The texture is medium to rather coarse.

Rot Resistance: The heartwood is rated as fairly resistant to decay and termite attack. The sapwood is vulnerable to attack by powder-post beetle.
