Elegant early 50s (or late 40s) "New Look" silhouette dress! No tags, looks to be home sewn. The fabric seems to be a satin acetate with a faux shantung silk texture. The print is quintessentially mid century: large black, white and grey swirls, very atomic and hypnotic! Empire seamed bodice (shelf bust) has V shaped collar. There are gathers under the bust and dolman 3/4 sleeves with gussets under the arms. The inverted V waist is formed by a series of pleats that open up at the natural waist becoming a full circle skirt! Its a very feminine and head turning silhouette! Metal zipper in the side seam. Photoed over a petticoat which is not included. Would make a lovely cocktail outfit with some black pumps and a clutch purse! Authentic "New Look" glamour!
