This is a small 20th Century brass bit.
It is a ring bit with a straight bar mouth.
The bar is stamped "England"
Such bits are used to lead strong horses, stallions and those with a tendency to rear.
The Chifney was patented in 1805 by the jockey Samuel Chifney Snr.
